I'm currently juggling Not Wanted on the Voyage by fellow Canadian Timothy Findley and The Cutting Room, the debut of Scottish novelist Louise Welsh.
Both are (thus far) amazing accomplishments in prose. The first is an intriguing and sacrilegious re-imagining of the great flood in The Book of Genesis, complete with unicorns, faeries, a twisted Noah and God himself.
The second is about a promiscuous homosexual auctioneer who comes across some rather dark photographs, and sets out to learn more about the deceased who possesed them.
Both are too good not to share, so I'll be sure to submit a more in-depth review whenever I manage to finish them. Let's hope I can do that before I begin my Rome & Early Christianity course, and the advent of NaNoWriMo.
Anyways, I'm curious, what are you reading these days?
