october 5th, today, is the most popular birthday in america. there are like 700,000 of you-- if you were to all get together and celebrate in san francisco, you could practically replace our entire population.
till recently, i had always thought that november 14th would be the most popular birthday because i've got a lot of friends that clutter the entire month of november, and because the fourteenth is nine months after valentine's day.
and ya know.
but, as it turns out, october 5th beats november-anything because it's nine months after new year's eve.
interesting.
i wonder if more people look at their significant other and say, "let's start the new year off by trying for a kid." or if it's more of a condom-less drunken midnight blur of sweaty legs and fluids that results in an october baby.
birthdays are weird things.
maybe i'm just bitter because i have a christmas birthday and sharing the month with jesus is far worse than sharing the day with 699,999 regular people.
but i wonder why we aren't expected to give our moms gifts on our birthday. i imagine there is a culture somewhere in the world that does-- and it makes more sense than asking her to buy you an ipod touch.
also, does anyone else find it symbolically strange that we blow out candles on our birthday? that's a bit depressing.
oh, and if your birthday trivia is still thirsty: may 22nd is the least popular (outside of february 29) and i have absolutely no idea why.
happy birthday to all the 5ths, i bring you the coolest kid alive:
