personally, i stand behind this idea 500%. a lot of people argue that because philadelphia has a statue of rocky-- and robocop could annihilate rocky in a matter of effortless seconds-- detroit may as well make use of their famous icon, too. whether or not that makes a lot of sense, my wondering is who else could they possibly immortalize? henry ford might be a bad idea considering the michigan job-market these days. there's jimmy hoffa... if you want go that way. or the creator of the cheesecake factory, i guess.
robocop just makes sense. it was a movie about cleaning up detroit during particularly rough times; a movie about the search for humankind.
