first off, yes, this trophy was awarded to me.and secondly, yes, i did make the trophy and award it to myself. so what?
my apologies for the cheap san francisco apartment background and silky red foreground. it's all i could do with minimal time and an inside-out blazer to make it look more classy.
but what do you expect from someone who makes himself trophies from empty jameson bottles?
this trophy has been in the works since sometime at the end of my credit card concierge job-- right around when i promised myself i would get more art done more regularly. i think, at the time, it was the next in line to be completed.
and then i landed the illustration gig and put all of my own art on hold.
but it's finally done! and i'm proud on two accounts. one because it's done, but two because i totally just got a trophy with my name on it.
when i moved from my bush and powell apartment, i was thinking about how much money i must've handed the bush market. there was another corner market, a block closer to me at the time, but everything was over-priced and under-stocked. and as an alcoholic, prices and availability are very important to me. so i went to bush market every night.
on average, i was spending $200 a week on alcohol and cigarettes. and assuming i went to bush market even 75% of the time i needed to fulfill an addiction, we can say i spent roughly $16,000 in the two years i lived nearby.
hence the plaque.
anyway, for those of you who expressed interest in this trophy while it was being built in my all-in-all, the trophy ran me almost $100 and the cost of the pint of whiskey. though i would've bought the whiskey regardless.
so basically, i would be happy to make you a personalized trophy, but i'm not interested in losing money trying. if that's cool by you, let me know and i'll get started on yours-- i'll even throw you a small ceremony.
also, the trophy will be made by an Authentic Drunk. which makes it a little bit cooler, but also a little bit sloppy.
