i was sort of hoping the mission would celebrate cinco de mayo on cinco de mayo because it falls on my saturday. but it'll be held on everyone else's saturday instead, which is not only ocho de mayo but my tuesday.
but with all that in mind, today will be a productive day of laundry-doing (or at least a few hours of complaining about how i should do laundry) and apartment shopping instead.
although i will probably cab to every apartment and make use of the free cinco de mayo cabs.
i've lived in my little bush n' powell studio for nearly two years now and there's nothing particularly wrong with it outside of the voyeuristic parking garage attendants across the street and the tourists who think my apartment is their hotel. the location is prime, there are no muni lines that run down my street, utilities are never more than $15 a month and my property manager is awesome (in a joe pesci sort of way.)
it's mostly that i don't like living in one neighborhood for too long.
so the chase begins.
i think most people dread moving-- my boss (one of seven) even expressed his condolences when i told him i was apartment-hunting and i was surprised because i'm completely excited to move. i suppose i dislike the dishonesty exhibited on craigslist-- ads that call studios with large closets "junior 1 bedroom"-- and i'm always a little shy meeting my future toilet for the first time.
but the prices are amazing right now and this will be the first time i am not moving on my birthday.
to me, that kind of great outweighs the difficulties of trying to fit couches through doorways.
so today i've got appointments to check out new neighborhoods and two-bedrooms with simon and travis.
and i should probably do my laundry. augh. maybe i'll do it after the apartment appointments. i hate doing stupid laundry.
